# Per-code colors now in the dashboard — checked before you save

6. října 2026

dashboard print

Until now, colors on a code were an API feature. Every code’s detail page now
has its own **Colors** card. What you store there applies to all four formats:
SVG, PNG, PDF and EPS.

### How it works

- Enter the **foreground and background** as hex values, e.g. `#1F4E79`. The
color picker next to the field helps you choose. The background also offers
**Transparent**.

- The **preview** comes from the same image route as the downloads and shows
your draft before you save. Until then, the downloads keep the saved state.

- **Reset to black on white** removes the colors again. The message names the
previous values, so you can enter them again if needed.

### The check

The dashboard judges every color pair immediately, with the same check the API
runs:

- **Scans well:** save as usual.

- **Limited scannability** (contrast below 4:1): a note with a suggestion.

- **Critical** (contrast below 2:1, a logo together with weak contrast, or any
transparent background): saving needs a confirmation.

- **Cannot be saved like this** (contrast below 1.5:1): refused.

When you add a logo to a code with colors, the logo confirmation tells you
whether the color pair turns critical.

### Good to know

- **Transparent codes** appear on a checkerboard in the dashboard, light or
dark depending on the foreground, so a light code is no longer invisible.

- **Codes already in print** stay readable. New colors do apply immediately to
every download at the same address; do not mix files from different states.

- Always do a **test scan on the real material** before printing. PDF and EPS
convert the colors to CMYK without an ICC profile.

### What you need to do

Nothing. Codes without colors return exactly the same bytes in all four
formats as before, and the download addresses stay the same. Colors are
available on every plan, including Free.
