When does the DPP apply to me?
What already applies and what is only expected — separated by legal basis, each with its primary source.
Batteries — Regulation (EU) 2023/1542
A battery passport for every battery of these three categories placed on the market or put into service:
- Light means of transport (LMT) batteries — no capacity threshold
- Industrial batteries with a capacity greater than 2 kWh
- Electric vehicle batteries — no capacity threshold

Textiles in France — Loi AGEC
A French information duty, not an EU DPP: for new clothing, footwear and household linen, among other things the country of each production step (weaving, dyeing/printing, making-up; separate steps for footwear) and a microplastics notice above 50 % synthetic fibres.
Since 1 January 2025 it applies above €10 million annual turnover with the covered products in France and at least 10,000 units a year (2023: above €50 million and 25,000 units; 2024: above €20 million and 10,000 units).

EU ecodesign (ESPR) — textiles and other product groups
In the EU, the DPP only becomes mandatory with a delegated act for the product group concerned; none has been adopted for textiles yet. Already binding since 19 July 2026: the ban on destroying unsold apparel, clothing accessories and footwear (not for micro and small enterprises; for medium-sized enterprises from 19 July 2030).
The Commission's indicative timeline for adoption: iron and steel 2026; textiles/apparel, tyres and aluminium 2027; furniture 2028; mattresses 2029. Requirements generally apply no earlier than 18 months after the act enters into force.
